Colors Inspired by Guanajuato: This traditional hammock is inspired by the colorful city of Guanajuato, famous for its vibrant alleys and fascinating history. Its name is said to come from the Chichimecas, the first inhabitants of the region, who called it "place of frogs" because of the shape of its hills. Starting in 1570, the discovery of rich deposits of gold and silver permanently changed the fate of this Mexican land.

The Mexican Maya hammock is renowned worldwide for its artisanal quality and unparalleled comfort. When arriving in the Americas, Christopher Columbus was impressed by these suspended beds used by the peoples of the Caribbean. He brought one back to Europe, where it became a staple on ships, advantageously replacing traditional bunks.
The Guanajuato model, a true large-sized Mexican hammock (2.20 m wide by 4 m long), offers you exceptional comfort. Ideal to replace a bed or to sleep outdoors, its airy net weaving allows excellent air circulation. It is especially pleasant during hot weather, limiting humidity and perspiration.
Our customers agree: this hammock is an exceptional piece. But this traditional art is now threatened. Since 2020, craftsmanship has been losing ground in Mexico, even in Yucatán, the historical cradle of the hammock. Handmade production is declining in the face of industrial manufacturing. The handwoven Maya hammock, like our Guanajuato model, could become a luxury product in the coming years.
