The secret of this large cotton hammock:

It is woven on a pedal loom with very wide widths. These hammocks from Barquisimeto in the Lara state of Venezuela are never less than 190 cm wide. They can be used perpendicularly, which is a very good position for reading.

The thread used is 100% cotton (increasingly rare nowadays) and the mesh is deliberately left a bit loose by the artisan. As a result, the fabric has a suppleness that is not found in any other hammock.
