Discover the Nicaragua bar hammock, undoubtedly one of the most comfortable in the world. Nothing like industrial canvas hammocks that flip over like pancakes and quickly become dangerous. Here, it’s real, solid, handmade quality.
Nicaraguan artisans weave a soft, flexible, and stretchy cotton net. The result: the hammock molds to your body, the net sinks just enough, and you are perfectly supported. Impossible to fall out, impossible for it to flip over.
It’s an open and elegant hammock that enhances any space while offering the comfort of a suspended bed. You can accessorize it with cushions, throws, or blankets for a chic bohemian style. Ideal for reading, resting, or sunbathing.
Natural material: the hammock fabric is made from pure cotton thread, soft to the touch and breathable.
Maximum comfort: perfect for resting, reading, or enjoying a nap outdoors.
Strength and durability: thanks to its tight three-thread weave, the hammock keeps its shape and lasts over time.
The wooden bar system keeps the fabric well open, creating a spacious, stable surface that can easily be decorated with cushions.
No single balancing point, allowing for varied positions.
A wide surface inviting relaxation, alone or with two.
An elegant aesthetic that fits into any sheltered space if possible.
This hammock is a little piece of Nicaragua that you hang at home. Its making involves 4 to 5 artisans, each with a specific role. Men weave the body of the hammock, while women devote themselves to the fringes with incredible patience. Then, at the workshop, other hands assemble the fabric, prepare the ropes, and shape the rings. These rings are not simple accessories: they are old aluminum Coca-Cola cans, heated in an oven and then transformed into rings. In Nicaragua, nothing is thrown away: everything is kept and recycled. Besides the use of this oven, no electrical energy is needed to make the hammock. The final assembly remains: fringes sewn to the hammock, ropes tied to the wooden bars, and the addition of small wooden bells, a distinctive feature of Nicaraguan bar hammocks. And there you have it, your hammock is ready. We can deliver it to you and offer it as is.
This is far from an industrial product: each piece has its own personality. Each hammock is the result of a know-how passed down through generations. The city of Masaya, nicknamed the hammock capital, is known worldwide for this tradition. There, hammocks are not just vacation relaxation objects: every Nicaraguan dreams of owning one. It’s deeply rooted in the culture, and many families live from this artisanal activity. Every hammock you buy brings a bit of that culture home with you, but it’s also a direct contribution to the work of these artisans, allowing their families to continue living from their craft.
When you settle into this hammock, you feel all that history, culture, and way of life. Every detail, every thread, every fringe tells you about Nicaragua, Masaya, and its artisans: a true immersion in a way of living.
This hammock is easy to wash by hand: a soft brush, a bit of soap, a good rinse, and it regains all its freshness.
