Nicaragua is the country that makes the best hammocks with wooden bars. Very tight three-thread mesh, a key criterion for the flexibility of the bedding. Handmade, made of high-quality cotton with careful finishes. Note that a hammock with a bar will be more taut when installed compared to Latino hammocks without a bar. Craftsmanship of a very high level.

Nicaragua has started manufacturing bar hammocks for the USA, as this type of hammock is the most popular in the northern part of this continent. In recent years, there has also been strong demand in Europe. Nicaraguans make the best bar hammocks in the world. Why? First, because the arms of this hammock are very long, which has the effect of eliminating the balance point. Then, this length reduces friction on the wooden bar because there is less pressure when the angles are smaller. The hammock therefore lasts longer. Additionally, the bedding is made of extremely soft cotton and a loose, stretchy mesh that eventually sags slightly for more comfortable use. This hammock can be hand washed in a bathtub.
There, between volcanoes and tropical forests, Nicaragua does not just offer breathtaking landscapes. It also offers hands. Thousands of hands, often young, skilled, sometimes tanned by the sun, patiently weaving the soul of this country: craftsmanship.
In the colorful markets of León, Granada, or Masaya, handmade hammocks tell a story — that of families who perpetuate an ancestral art in a country where education remains a luxury, and manual labor becomes a path, by choice or necessity.
Among these treasures, this bar hammock is a unique piece. It resembles no other. Its design, typical of the T-shaped hammock, is crafted only in certain regions of Nicaragua, where every step of its creation is a collective, almost sacred work.
It all begins on a loom, where the body of the hammock, both strong and flexible, is born. Meanwhile, in nearby villages, it is often women who prepare the fringes by hand (those beautiful borders that dance in the wind, in their yards, under the shade of trees).
Once the pieces are ready, they come together in the workshop: the carefully sanded wooden bars, decorations, the arms of the hammock, the rings... Each wooden hammock then becomes a work of art, the product of many hands and a shared spirit.
This wooden bar hammock is entirely handmade, without any electrical energy consumption, with one exception: the suspension ring, made from recycled cans, is melted using a small electric furnace. A handcrafted and responsible approach down to the smallest details. 4 to 6 people are needed to make this model.
