If you compare two hammocks:
- Look at the washing instructions (they already say a lot about the quality of the thread used). For the manufacture of a hammock, the price of the thread varies from 1 to 8, ranging from mercerized cotton to 100% polyester thread. Since the hammock is a heavy product, to make it cheaply, the first component to be sacrificed will be the thread.
- Check the thread composition. Keep in mind that if the origin is not clearly indicated, the composition is probably false.
- Look at the weight of the product. A 1.9 kg hammock will last much longer than a 1.2 kg model.
- Look at the number of suspension cords. Compare the dimensions of the fabric. On some websites, we see XXL hammocks with fabrics only 140 cm wide. That is our size L!!!
- What you won’t be able to check is: does the thread bleed? Will the fabric stretch to the point of sagging?
If you compare two stands:
- Look at the number of layers in the laminated wood. The more there are, the longer the wood will last.
- Look not only at the length of the stand but also, and this is crucial for comfort, the hanging height.
- Check if the wood has been treated for outdoor use or if it is naturally rot-resistant.
- Look at the years of warranty offered.
