It has its advantages and disadvantages. A little tip from our blog before making your choice: Which color to choose for my hammock?
A genuine hammock made in Brazil, this model is used by Brazilians as an everyday bed. We chose a manufacturer that operates in the high-end segment. Therefore, as an everyday bed, a Brazilian will replace it after about 3 years. We observe among our customers a usage that varies from 5 to 15 years depending on the care given by each person.
We have been in store since 1993 which allows us to know well the longevity of all our products. We distinguish 2 different uses.
Intense use: for someone who leaves their hammock outside day and night for 5 to 6 months of the year. The cords get tangled! Washing is unknown.
Careful use: for someone who leaves their hammock outside but brings it in when rainy weather is forecast for several days. A passing rain is welcome. The hammock is machine washed at 40° at least once a year at the end of the season then stored indoors during winter. The cords are regularly checked.
Ultra-robust and non-deformable, this fabric (360 g/m²) is consistent. Many hammocks have fabrics that eventually sag and in which you end up enclosed. The thread used is recycled cotton. 70% cotton from the textile industry (clean scraps with stable dyes) and 30% polyester. The polyester filament is there to strengthen the recycled thread. This thread is truly ecological as it earned us the Sustainable Development Trophy from our chamber of commerce.
A maximum of cotton is pleasant for skin contact. Fabrics with 50% or more polyester as well as all 100% synthetic fabrics are to be avoided.
This hammock is made up in the cords of 24 strands each with a resistance of 16 kg. That’s a total of 384 kg! Moreover, technically, the breaking weight must be divided by two to get the maximum load. That is why this hammock withstood our test with 478 kg without breaking!! We always underestimate the maximum allowed load in our technical sheets.
Each hammock passes through the hands of various artisans passionate about this work which resonates as a deep cultural imprint. There, the hammock has a thousand years of history and traditions. Fabric assembly, technical drawing sheet Tropical Influences, hemming, cords, mamucaba, pullado, handle, etc... So many steps that require ancestral know-how.
We invite you to wash this hammock in the machine at 40°, even at 60° if needed. Know that a Brazilian washes it every 10 to 15 days when it’s their bed! Most hammocks are washed cold. It all depends on the thread. At Tropical Influences, choice and quality are paramount.
It is a state of mind above all. We started in 1988 with respect for all our suppliers, whether industrial or artisans. Long before the term fair trade appeared publicly. So it is support, presence, loyalty, and fair remuneration that we promote with all our contacts.
Suspended between sky and earth, we wish you a beautiful stay nestled in one of our hammocks!
