XL metal gray anthracite support set made of 2 mm thick steel and CARIBE XL Sertao hammock, a double Brazilian hammock made of recycled cotton. The specific dimensions of our supports guarantee an ideal curve for Latin American hammocks.
The "Sertao" is the inland region of Northeast Brazil, shared between the states of Ceará, Piauí, Pernambuco, Bahia, Rio Grande do Norte, Paraíba, and Maranhão. Our manufacturer is located in one of these states. It is a hot and arid land where several million inhabitants sleep in hammocks every night. There, a hammock like this lasts about 3 years for a Brazilian who uses it as a daily bed. For us, this hammock will easily last 10 years. It is a culture in its own right that we invite you to discover through the many articles on our blog.
A hammock is a textile product that can be machine washed. A Brazilian who sleeps every night in a hammock washes it every 10 to 15 days approximately. For us, who mostly use it outdoors, even if it looks clean, it is actually quite loaded with pollen, dust mites, and microscopic organic debris falling from the surrounding vegetation. A feast for mold fungus! It is therefore essential to wash it in the machine at 40°, dry it well outdoors (no tumble dryer), and store it in a dry place during winter.
Metal can last forever with minimal care. The material used is not stainless steel, so this stand will eventually rust. The first signs of rust will mainly appear where there is friction (junctions between tubes, screw areas). Here in our oceanic salt-air climate, we notice rust appearing after 2 to 3 years. There is a miraculous paint for this stand. Find a 0.5 l can at your local hardware store of the brand "Hammerite". This very thick paint containing magnetic metal beads is applied in a single coat with only a light sanding beforehand. There is no need to apply an anti-rust primer. A single coat of this paint will protect the metal for about 3 years.
