The Soledad hanging chair stand is our metal model that supports the most weight (150 Kg). Its technical design (angle of tube inclination) gives it this strength. A classic that we have been selling for many years.
Regarding maintenance, this stand is not made of stainless steel and is therefore not guaranteed against rust. We recommend that you get a 0.5L pot of Hammerite "Hammered Slate Gray" paint at your next visit to a large DIY store. Rust spots will begin to appear where the tubes are in contact, where there are bolts, because the paint wears off in these areas. At first, you will apply small touch-ups on these oxidation spots. After a few years, the tubes become a bit dull with outdoor use. It will then be time to apply a full coat of paint.
Hammerite paint is incredibly resistant on metal (thanks to the blacksmith from Tarnos at La Yayi for his advice). Only one coat is needed and it can be applied directly on rust. Note that if you store the pot upside down, the layer that dries due to air will settle at the bottom of the pot. When you open it, even after 10 years, the liquid paint will be on the surface.
The seat of the hammock-chair should be machine washed from time to time, especially if you use it outdoors. Washing removes pollen, dust mites, natural organic debris, fungi, etc. from the fabric.
By reflex, for us Europeans who are quite inexperienced with hammocks, we tend to associate the hammock more with furniture than with textiles. As a result, it is not uncommon for a customer to come to the store and the following conversation takes place:
- "Oh, I’ve had a hammock from you for X years and it’s really great."
- "So, have you washed it yet?"
- "Uh, well no... not yet. But you know, it’s not dirty, we bring it inside often, we take care of it! Why, do you have to wash it?"
In fact, in Latin America, people who sleep in hammocks wash them every 10 to 15 days just like we do with our sheets!
