Colombia and the Art of the Hammock Chair
At Tropical Hamac, our story with the Colombian hammock dates back to 1993. At that time, we traveled to Colombia (a country that was not very touristy and difficult to access) to meet local artisans specialized in hammock making. Without the Internet, discovering these skills relied on genuine human encounters and a spirit of adventure.
It was in this context that Tropical Hamac established its first contacts with one of the best Colombian hammock makers. Quality being at the heart of our values, we chose to collaborate only with partners who master traditional know-how and respect craftsmanship.
The Birth of the Colombian Hammock Chair
At that time, the hammock chair was still little known in Colombia. This format, invented in Brazil in the 1980s, had not yet crossed the borders of the South American continent. Together with our Colombian partners, we developed the first handcrafted hammock chair models, adapted to European comfort standards. Quite an adventure!
The first prototypes were far from perfect. But thanks to close and lasting collaboration with the workshop, we refined the comfort, finishes, and quality of the materials. Today, our XL hammock chairs are the result of more than 30 years of shared expertise between Tropical Hamac and passionate artisans.

A Human and Lasting Relationship
This partnership is not just a simple commercial contract. It is based on almost familial ties woven over time. The daughter of the factory manager even studied in France, and the Tropical Hamac team regularly visits the artisans on site. Every year, we support the workshop not only through our orders but also with exceptional bonuses, especially for Christmas or to celebrate the Barranquilla carnival, one of the largest cultural events in the world.

What if a Part Wears Out Over Time?
No worries: in case of wear or damage, you can easily replace certain parts. We offer replacement wooden bars for hammock chairs as well as suspension cords, available individually.
Our after-sales service provides all spare parts for hammock chairs and other replacement accessories to extend the life of your hammock chair.
