Maintenance of the stand:
The current trend is to let the wood grey naturally with UV exposure. If this is the look you want, then do not apply any product and leave it outside without doing anything. It will last for many years.
If you want to preserve the original color of the wood, then apply 3 coats of high-quality clear wood stain in the first year. A 0.5 L can is enough for many years of treatment. Maintenance coats should be applied approximately every 3 years. Unlike paint, the stain does not crack over time and allows the wood to breathe. If you want to tint your stand, stains are available in many colors.
In any case, never apply oils meant for exotic wood. This stand is made of autoclave-treated spruce, Class 4. It is therefore a softwood and the product you choose must be suitable. Note that thanks to our store (19 years in 2016) and our outdoor exhibition, we have conducted all possible and imaginable tests. One bad experience was applying linseed oil. This product had the drawback of attracting all the gnats nearby!!
Finally, we have noticed that wood needs ambient humidity. Those who dismantle their stand to store it in a very dry place during winter are the ones who see their stand crack and age poorly. Personally, I have some stands in my garden and during winter I put small wedges under the 4 feet so they do not stay in contact with the damp ground all winter.
There are many "new" products for wood treatment. We hear more and more about "saturators" which supposedly prevent the wood from greying. We will test them and will be able to tell you more in the near future. Ask your DIY store for information.

The CARIBE XL Sertao hammock should be washed at least once a year at the end of the season in a machine at 40°C. Use regular detergent. No tumble drying and store in a dry place during winter.
