We are all influenced by the price of items we browse on the Internet. Price, warranty, and advertised lifespan are the main factors that hold us back. Meanwhile, comfort is sometimes overlooked, but it is just as important. There are two styles of hammocks: those with wooden spreader bars (the Western version of the hammock) and those without (the Latin American version, our specialty, our passion). The one with wooden bars must be stretched during installation (positioned lengthwise only and on the back), while the one without must be curved (positioned diagonally flat, in a fetal position or seated). However, most online offers concern stands made somewhat for both styles—either not tall enough or not long enough.
The ratio between the length and the height of the hammock stand is decisive for the final comfort. If your hammock is too tight, you will be stuck and curved in its fabric. If it is properly curved, you will lie flat by positioning yourself correctly, diagonally, with a soft and stretchable bedding.
Specialists since 1988, at Tropical Influences, we have long worked directly with stand manufacturers to offer you generous dimensions. Compare the heights of a hammock stand with us and you will see they have nothing to do with the competition.
Stand maintenance. Nowadays, core treatments are ecological and no longer contain heavy metals or arsenic. This spruce stand will last a long time with minimal care. We strongly recommend applying a saturator to protect it from rain and UV rays. Very important, this stand must not be stored dry during winter. The wood becomes too dry and cracks. Leave it outside all year without covering it and loosen each bolt by two turns of the wrench to allow the wood to swell during the cold and humid winter period.
Ultra-robust and non-deformable, this fabric (360g per m²) is consistent. Many hammocks have fabrics that eventually sag, trapping you inside. The thread used is recycled cotton: 70% cotton from the textile industry (clean scraps with firm dyes) and 30% polyester. The polyester filament is there to strengthen the recycled thread. This thread is truly ecological, which earned us the "Sustainable Development Trophy" from our chamber of commerce.
A maximum amount of cotton will be pleasant against the skin. Fabrics with 50% or more polyester as well as all 100% synthetic fabrics should be avoided.
This hammock’s arms consist of 44 cords, each with a resistance of 24 kg, totaling 290 kg! Moreover, technically, the breaking weight must be divided by two to obtain the maximum load. We always underestimate the maximum allowed load in our technical sheets.
Each hammock passes through the hands of various artisans passionate about this work, which resonates as a deep cultural imprint. There, the hammock has a thousand years of history and traditions. Assembly of the fabric, technical sheet of Tropical Influences designs, hemming, arms, pullado, piola, handle, etc.—so many steps that require ancestral know-how.
