Indoor Hammock
The hammock is not put away in October. Installed in a living room, a bedroom, or a mezzanine, it becomes the reading/nap corner that no one disputes, and it weighs less than an armchair and leaves no footprint on the floor (convenient for cleaning!).
Choosing Your Room
An indoor hammock requires two anchor points with a minimum distance of 4m and a height of 2m, a clearance of 60 cm around to get in and out, and a distance of 80cm between the floor and the bottom of the hammock. The living room is suitable when two load-bearing walls face each other or are perpendicular. A concrete ceiling is also a less restrictive solution. Beams also make a very good anchoring point. It works very well in a bedroom too. It is used for napping, can replace a reading chair, or serve as an extra bed in a teenager’s room.
Many of our customers even sleep in them all year round! But it is especially in Venezuela, Brazil, and Colombia that this practice is most common. There, culture dictates that the hammock is a bed in its own right!
Models Designed to Stay in Place
The hammocks in the grand luxe range age best indoors, protected from UV rays and rain (you can pass them down to your children). The Colombian hammock, woven in cotton over 350 cm and rated for 200 kg, remains the most requested for daily use. The Brazilian hammock is recognized by its fringes and tight weave, very decorative against a light-colored wall. The Venezuelan model plays with the fineness of the thread and visual lightness.
Mounting: Wall, Ceiling, or Stand
In concrete or solid brick, two suitable anchors and a wall mounting kit hold without question. Allow 350 cm between the attachment points for a luxury hammock including the rope. For distances under 3 m, opt for a shorter model or make up the gap with chains, which also allow you to adjust the curve.
Yes, this is the common practice in Latin America. A canvas at least 140 cm wide allows you to lie down diagonally, a position that keeps the spine straight. Plan for a thin cushion under the neck rather than a thick pillow.
Only in a concrete slab or an exposed beam, with through bolts and not simple anchors. A false ceiling, a plasterboard, or paneling do not support any suspended load. In case of doubt, the self-supporting structure remains the safe solution.
Luxury models are hand washed in lukewarm water, with the rope tied to prevent knots. Flat drying is sufficient, never use a tumble dryer. Indoors, without UV or humidity, a cotton canvas only needs to be washed once a year.
