Mariposa, a Timeless Collection

We created the Mariposa collection in 1996. We started from a traditional Colombian model called "Arco Iris" or "Rainbow." Colombians love very colorful designs. They are somewhat like Mexicans, enjoying bright and shimmering colors. That style is not really for us. We are often initially attracted by these Latin colors, but after a few months, the risk is to grow tired of them. "Mariposa" means butterfly. This model is like the fluttering of a butterfly’s wings, sending soft and tone-on-tone color gradients.

Although the model appears very simple, it was far from easy to design. We are talking about the technical sheet of the pattern adapted for mechanical looms. In other words, the distribution of threads across the entire width of the fabric to achieve the final pattern depending on whether it is woven at 140, 160, or 180 cm width. It was quite a puzzle!
