A comfortable and sturdy set that has proven itself over many years. At Tropical Influences, we love durable products and explain all the secrets of proper care in the description below. The height/length ratio is important to provide the best comfort for hammocks without bars. For this reason, the stand is made exclusively for us. The double bolting prevents the tubes from squeaking. The hammock in XL size is ideal for an adult from 1.70m to 1.85m (beyond that, it is better to choose the XXL size) but also for use as a duo thanks to the length of the fabric (240 cm). Colombian mariposa Fuego XL hammock.

We have been specialists in the world of hammocks since 1988. We are not just importers and resellers. We create our own fabric models and our own hammock stand designs. Our measurements and designs can only be found with us. For the stands, our goals are: a good quality/price ratio, a height/length ratio which is very important for comfort in the hammock, load resistance (see the test photo), stability, and silence (double bolting). The stainless aspect is not part of our requirements because it is far too costly to achieve.
Our stands are not made of stainless steel. The first rust spots will appear after one to two years at the points where the tubes connect, where the screws are inserted, and sometimes where there are welds. This is normal; friction wears away the paint layer exposing the steel. As soon as this type of oxidation is visible, it is time to get a can of Hammerite paint (hammered anthracite gray) and do small touch-ups only on the rust spots. Then, after about 3 to 4 years, the paint on the tubes eventually deteriorates due to UV and moisture. It becomes very dull. That is when you will need to repaint your stand entirely.
The properties of Hammerite paint on metal are amazing. With incredible resistance, your stand will be protected for a minimum of 3 years. Hammerite paint is available in a wide range of colors at most hardware stores. No primer is needed and one coat is sufficient. For more information on stand maintenance, check out our dedicated blog article: Stand Maintenance.
For your hammock to last a long time, it is important to wash it at least once a year in a machine at 40°C, or even 60°C if necessary. Our hammocks are the only ones on the market that can withstand such temperatures. Washing removes all organic impurities that fall between the threads due to outdoor use. Store it well dry inside the house during winter and not in a garden shed (mice and moisture).
It is important to regularly untangle the arms of your hammock. When the cords are tangled, some become shorter, bear all the weight, and eventually break. There are two of us who can repair almost all types of hammocks. Contact us for that old hammock you cherish so much...
