Inspired by Mayan culture, the weaving of this Mexican hammock is a true art. It is handmade and can take 15 days of work. A task that requires patience, precision, and rare expertise. Authentic hammocks from Mexico are often woven at home. Using needles and wooden or metal frames that serve as traditional looms, it is often a supplementary activity practiced in the evenings or on weekends. An income that contributes to family economies. To date, no industrial machine is capable of reproducing the 4-thread mesh. This is a hammock that must be earned: unique, authentic, and steeped in history.
With its 2.20 meters width and 4 meters total length, this EXTRA LARGE hammock offers unparalleled space to relax, alone or with a partner. Dimensions typical of genuine Mexican hammocks! The model you see here is the result of a weaving technique mastered by few artisans in Mexico, an exceptional piece locally known as the Queen Maya.
This hammock is made entirely of nylon, the same material used in fishing nets. It is designed to withstand the elements: it resists both intense heat as well as humidity or cold. A true outdoor hammock that you won’t need to bring inside at every shower. To extend its lifespan and preserve its beautiful colors, we still recommend storing it indoors during autumn and winter. As a bonus, this Mexican hammock is equipped with metal loop protectors to preserve the rings and prolong their durability, even with intensive use.
Be careful with rings, watches, or bracelets that can catch on the mesh and cause small tears. If this happens, gently stretch the fabric and try to reposition the threads one by one.
Sometimes threads may come loose at the edges: don’t panic. Simply lightly burn them to shorten, then tie a small knot at another junction to secure everything.
Washing is recommended after six months of use. Soak it in a bucket of soapy water for 30 minutes. To avoid the arms tangling, spread the handles well on each side. Then rinse with clear water and let it dry in the sun, hanging. Clean and fresh, your hammock is ready to get back to work... for long guilt-free naps!
Mosquito nets, cushions, stands, rope kits... everything you need is on our accessories page. And if you want to hang this hammock on a stand, our Universal Metal Stand or our Maya King wooden stand will be perfectly suited.
Happy napping!
