Brazil is one of the largest countries for hammocks. The Brazilian hammock can be found over several thousand kilometers from the Amazon. Millions of people use it as a daily bed. Each state/region holds exceptional models. We meet and select our artisans on site. Tropical Hamac has been present in Latin America for over 30 years to discover rare gems, offer new designs, and discuss the feasibility of new collections with them.
Tropical Hamac was among the very first hammock importers in Latin America. We were the first to offer an online site at a time when the Internet was just emerging. We have observed that after a few years, many hammock importers, attracted by very low prices, massively imported low-quality hammocks from Brazil made with mid-range thread or with a high percentage of polyester in the thread composition. At Tropical Influences, we have never purchased this kind of product. Even for our most economical hammocks, we have chosen manufacturers who offer the best quality. Today, Brazil has become too expensive, and these importers have turned to China and India. However, they carefully avoid announcing the origin, and you will discover it once at home on the product label (legally required in France). That is why they only call their product “Brazilian hammock” or “Colombian hammock.”
Our experience allows us to know the real quality of our fabric hammocks. Our fabric hammocks are so durable that they last between 5 and 10 years: 5 years for someone who uses it every night and washes it by machine or hand every 10 to 15 days. Our quality/price ratio on our Brazilian hammocks is unbeatable. Unfortunately, hammocks do not benefit from controlled designation of origin, and each seller is free to use the terms they want! For us, nothing beats real Latin American hammocks, because they are the specialists and have a thousand years of experience.
