The Akumal hammock is the Mexican model made from much thicker rope for those of you who need a more robust hammock (it is a net we recommend if you have children who will be roughhousing in your hammock).
Its comfort is really very nice, because even though it is made with a two-thread mesh (unlike the four-thread mesh of the fine thread models), its bedding is soft and silky and so stretchy that you float like on a cloud.
If you choose this hammock for outdoor use, the colors will fade with UV exposure but after a while they will remain light, a bit pastel, forever. This hammock will withstand rain but it takes quite a long time to dry because the rope is thick (this is a hammock that weighs 2.4kg!). Therefore, it is preferable to bring it inside when you know the weather will be rainy. But this is not an obligation either. If the hammock has been caught in a heavy storm, place a broomstick across it and let it dry.
Very important: at least one wash per year. This is the secret for your hammock to last a long time. Washing removes microscopic organic debris that get into the cotton and can cause mold once the hammock is folded away for the winter. Net hammocks should not be washed in a machine. Take a bucket of hot water, some regular detergent, stir vigorously, rinse thoroughly, and let your hammock dry outside. In winter, store it indoors and not in a garden shed (mice, humidity).
There you go, I think I haven’t forgotten anything, you almost know everything!
