Each Mexican hammock we offer is a unique piece, entirely handwoven in cotton, a craft that takes several days to complete. With us, there is no mass production, no imposed colors: the artisan is free to create the model they wish, according to their inspiration at the moment. This complete respect for creative freedom gives rise to hammocks that are all different, both in their patterns and in their color combinations.
It is precisely for this reason that we photograph each hammock one by one, without exception.
A meticulous and tedious job, certainly, but one that guarantees you will receive the exact hammock you chose. This attention to detail makes us the only ones to offer you such transparency and such respect for Mexican artisanal craftsmanship.
With us, you don’t choose a “standard” model, but the genuine Mexican hammock you see in the photo, in all its authenticity and uniqueness.
Is the Mexican hammock one of the most comfortable in the world? The debate remains open. But it’s not the Mexicans who would say otherwise! Handmade using a horizontal loom, our hammocks come from the Yucatán Peninsula. The traditional Mexican hammock is distinguished by its... four-thread flexible mesh, woven without knots. This particular weaving makes the hammock very stretchable, in addition to being very lightweight (1.3 kg for this XL hammock).
This hammock is also very breathable as air passes through the mesh. It better conforms to the shape of the body than a canvas hammock, while allowing excellent weight distribution. An incomparable hammock for its freshness, comfort, and lightness. To learn more: The net hammock, its strengths
In Mexico, more precisely in the Yucatán, the inhabitants often sleep in hammocks due to the tropical climate.
Over there, sleeping in a hammock is a custom, and this "piece of furniture" is an integral part of the home. People sleep in it, eat in it, and socialize in it.
Even today, many families sleep every night in this traditional hammock suspended inside their homes (kitchen, living room, bedroom, living area...) or on stilts.
It is even one of the rare places in the world where several people sleep in the same hammock, whereas in other cultures, each person has their own sleeping space.
✅ Extreme comfort: Thanks to its knotless weaving and the fineness of its mesh, the Mexican hammock allows for maximum stretchability. You will feel weightless in it, no matter your position. What positions can you use in a hammock ?
✅ Resistant and durable: Handwoven with care, the Mexican hammock is designed to last over time. It can accommodate one or more people without losing its shape.
✅ Ideal for hot climates: Its open-knit mesh allows air to circulate freely, preventing heat and humidity. It is the perfect hammock for summer, tropical travel, or a nap in the garden.
The best position for sleeping in a Mexican hammock, as the inhabitants of Yucatán remind us, is diagonally. This allows you to keep your back straight while enjoying the natural rocking of the hammock. Contrary to popular belief, sleeping diagonally prevents you from curling up like a banana and offers better stability.
