Rare hammock, entirely handwoven, with an ethnic design true to the history of one of the greatest hammock countries: Colombia. This hammock is so immense in length and width that it can only fit on our XXL wooden stand: the 10-ply Spruce MAYA KING-LUXE
This fabric is made from a blend of 60% cotton and 40% acrylic. Why?
Acrylic has two main advantages. First, it does not fade in the sun; its colors remain over time. It withstands moisture much better than cotton. Great for us who mostly use our hammocks outdoors. It is also a thread that retains more warmth than cotton. Therefore, we use only 40% acrylic. This means that some colors present in the warp thread (the lengthwise direction) are 100% acrylic. Those strips will keep their color almost for life. The weft thread (the widthwise direction) is always 100% cotton.
This blend gives a very durable hammock that is nevertheless soft to the touch on the skin.
That said, we prefer to see these high-end hammocks installed indoors or under a covered terrace. If you leave this hammock outdoors, you will need to bring it in often because its fabric is particularly thick and therefore takes a long time to dry.
Furthermore, it took Gladys Tamara or one of her colleagues about 10 days of manual work to finish this hammock. It’s a hammock that deserves respect....
