The hammock is a textile product that requires care just like jeans, sheets, or towels. We can't say it enough! A Colombian who sleeps in this hammock every night washes it every 10 to 15 days.
We have conducted numerous tests on all our products, and for this hammock, here are the results:
Washing at 40°C: colors remain intact. Washing at 60°C: colors remain intact. Washing at 90°C: colors fade.
Many customers come to our store and tell us, "We have had a hammock from you for 4 or 5 years, and it’s really great." Then we ask the crucial question, "Have you ever washed it in the machine?" and the answer is always, "Oh no, but you know, it’s not dirty!" That’s when we explain that if you look at the fiber under a microscope, you’ll see mites attracted by the smell of a Nutella residue, making their way through pollen clumps to finally reach a thread clogged by a fungus. This fungus only needs a bit more moisture to feed because it doesn’t like Nutella!!! Soak this hammock at the bottom of your bathtub, and you’ll notice the water isn’t very clear...
It is therefore essential (especially when the quality of the thread allows it) to wash your hammock at least once a year in the machine at 40°C. Let it dry outside (no tumble dryer) and store it indoors during the winter, not in the garden shed (mice and humidity). Tie the hammock’s arms together to prevent them from tangling in the machine drum.
You will notice that almost all our competitors recommend cold washing. The hammock is a heavy product, and it is tempting to use inexpensive thread for its manufacture. Another solution is to use a lot of synthetic thread, which are nothing more than polyester derivatives, in other words, plastic! These "rot-proof" guaranteed hammocks age very poorly outdoors, do not withstand machine washing well, are hot, and sometimes even static when in full sun. As we say in the Landes region, "mefiat" (beware)!!!
Innovation in design with the mix of brown, camel, and red!
