Mariposa, a timeless collection

We created the Mariposa collection in 1996. We started from a traditional Colombian model they call "Arco Iris" or "Rainbow". Colombians are fans of very colorful models. They are a bit like Mexicans; they love bright and shimmering colors. That style is not really made for us. We are often initially attracted by these Latino colors, but after a few months, there is a risk of getting tired of them. "Mariposa" means butterfly. This model is like the butterfly’s wing beats, sending soft and tone-on-tone color gradients.

The model, seemingly very simple, was not easy to design at all. We are talking about the technical sheet of the pattern adapted to the mechanical loom. In other words, the distribution of threads across the entire width of the fabric to obtain the final pattern depending on whether weaving is done at 140, 160, or 180 cm width. It was a bit of a headache!! But 23 years later, this model has become a great classic... To learn more: How we make our collections
