Authentic hammock made in Brazil in the state of Ceará, this model is used there as an everyday bed. We chose a manufacturer operating in the high-end market and widely recognized in its region where almost everyone sleeps in a hammock! We have observed with our customers a usage lifespan varying from 5 to 15 years depending on the care each person provides.
We have been in stores since 1993, which allows us to have a good understanding of the longevity of all our products. We distinguish two different types of use.
Intense use: for someone who leaves their hammock outdoors day and night for 5 to 6 months of the year. The suspension ropes get tangled! Washing is unknown.
Careful use: for someone who leaves their hammock outdoors but brings it inside when rainy weather is expected for several days. A passing rain shower is fine. The hammock is machine washed at 40°C at least once a year at the end of the season, then stored indoors during winter. The suspension ropes are regularly checked.
Ultra-robust and non-deformable, this fabric (360g per m²) is consistent. Many hammocks have fabrics that eventually sag, trapping the user inside. The thread used is recycled cotton: 70% cotton from the textile industry (clean scraps with solid dyes) and 30% polyester. The polyester filament is there to strengthen the recycled thread. This thread is truly ecological as it earned us the "Sustainable Development Trophy" from our chamber of commerce.
A high cotton content is pleasant for skin contact. Fabrics with 50% or more polyester as well as all 100% synthetic fabrics should be avoided.
This hammock is made up of 28 ropes in the suspension arms, each with a resistance of 16 kg, totaling 448 kg! We conducted a test with its XXL-sized cousin supporting a total of 681 kg without breaking!! Furthermore, technically, the breaking weight must be divided by two to get the maximum load. We always underestimate the maximum allowed load in our technical sheets. With a Tropical Influences hammock, have no doubt about its capacity to hold your entire family!
Each hammock passes through the hands of various artisans passionate about this craft, which resonates as a deep cultural imprint. There, the hammock has a thousand years of history and traditions. Assembling the fabric, technical drawing sheets for Tropical Influences designs, hemming, suspension arms, handles, cords, mamucaba, etc.—all these steps require ancestral know-how.
We encourage you to machine wash this hammock at 40°C, or even at 60°C if necessary. Know that a Brazilian washes theirs every 10 to 15 days when it is their bed! Most hammocks are washed cold. It all depends on the thread. At Tropical Influences, choice and quality are paramount.
It is above all a state of mind. We started in 1988 with respect for all our suppliers, whether industrial or artisanal, long before the term "fair trade" became widely known. Thus, it is support, presence, loyalty, and fair remuneration that we promote with all our contacts.
Suspended between sky and earth, we wish you a wonderful stay nestled in one of our hammocks!
