I had the chance to visit Andalusia during one of my recent trips and I completely fell in love with this country with Arab influences. All the colors jumped out at me and I came back home with a real desire to create a new collection that we will call "The Andalusian"! Let's go, off to the workshop of our artist from the early days, Alesko, whose talent we have been loyal to for over 20 years.
- Hi Alesko, I just got back from Andalusia and I’m hooked!
- Oh really, but everywhere you go you get hooked every time, Frank!
- Yes Alex, that’s kind of true... I saw Malaga with its facades so pure white and balconies painted in such a deep blue.
- I love mixing strong blues and the most intense whites.
- Then there is, despite a desert-like atmosphere because this region is so arid, an almost tropical vegetation along the coast. There is a tree with leaves so green and so fine, with pink and white flowers. It’s the Albizia. They call it the flamboyant in Africa.
- Hey Frank, will you bring me back some cacti for my collection?
- And you know, over there, pomegranate trees are everywhere. This fruit is amazing, it delights the birds. You know, there are lots of birds there, they sing all day long. This fruit is a mix of yellow, bright red, and navy blue.
- Okay, but I’ll add my own touch anyway!
- For the splash of color, look at the Aguilas carnival. There you can really enjoy the color combinations! Aguilas is a small town but hosts the second most important carnival in Spain!
- And how about the music, did you enjoy it?
- I learned the Rumba Flamenca!! Me encanta!!! Jobi Joba!!
That’s kind of how a collection is born. You need a guiding thread. And here is the result of our latest collection: Malaga, Albizia, Andalusian, Granada, and Aguilas.
Thank you Alesko for your inspiration and for understanding and translating all my messages through your art.
