At Tropical Hamac, every Mexican hammock we offer is handwoven in the pure tradition of the Yucatán. Making a Matrimonial (XL) hammock takes about 6 days of meticulous work, often spread over several weeks. In villages like Holbox, this activity is more a passion than a profession: artisans weave in their free time, according to their desire and inspiration. In southern Mexico, in Chiapas, some artisans handweave truly exceptional net hammocks. We offer a selection of these in our luxury Mexican hammocks section, for those who love comfort… with style.
This method of production gives rise to authentic and unique pieces. Unlike industrial copies coming from India, our hammocks are made with the original 4-thread mesh and traditional Mexican thread, ensuring comfort, flexibility, and durability. With us, there are no imposed colors or fixed patterns. Each artisan is free to express their creativity: choice of shades, stripe arrangement, finishing touches on the hammock’s arms… Everything is done their way, as it has been passed down through generations.
Obviously, this complicates our logistics a bit: we have to photograph each hammock, one by one. It’s real work, sometimes a bit tiring, but it’s the price to pay to guarantee you unique pieces, far from any mass production.
The colors you see in the photos are exactly those you will receive, but the arrangement may vary slightly from one hammock to another — and that’s exactly what makes them so authentic.
By choosing a hammock from us, you directly support Mexican craftsmanship and help preserve a deeply rooted cultural know-how:
