We have been present in Colombia since 1994! At that time, the civil war was ongoing throughout the entire territory. Back then, we took some risks traveling by bus from the big city of Barranquilla. Fortunately, luck has always been on our side. Since then, we have had the opportunity to meet wonderful artisans with whom we have been able to build very close ties. In 2025, we are still working with the same artisans! It is, of course, one of the most honest trades there is. We do not haggle over the price (except when we know the artisan is exaggerating!) and we know that a Colombian merchant would pay much less than us for a similar hammock.
These artisans live simply, but their work allows them to have a very decent standard of living. We have also noticed that some of the artisans even have private health insurance when they have health issues. This is far from the case for all Colombians.
This hammock is the expression of an ancestral know-how passed down from generation to generation in San Jacinto, Colombia. It requires about fifteen days of weaving because making the fringes is complex. The tight weaving of the hammock fabric guarantees not only lasting comfort but also remarkable resistance to daily wear. This hammock will last you a lifetime, and there is a good chance you will pass it on to your children. The day you have it in your hands, you will understand how much this hammock represents highly respectable craftsmanship and you will take good care of it. So, will it be with you soon?
The fringes are an integral part of the identity of luxury Colombian hammocks. In the past, they served as a blanket: you just had to fold them over yourself to protect against the wind or the chill. Today, they are mainly a strong decorative element that gives character to the hammock. Carefully flat-woven, they reveal all the Colombian artisanal know-how. The more complex the work, the more valuable the hammock becomes.
But these fringes are not there just to look nice: they also reinforce the hammock's structure. The heads, made of natural cotton piola (a thick rope of raw cotton), provide excellent resistance to tension and guarantee the solidity of the whole. It is this blend of beauty and robustness that makes the Colombian hammock so rich: an object that is functional, comfortable, and full of charm, where every detail matters.
To hang your hammock safely and stylishly, three types of supports are available to you:
– The larch stand, economical and elegant
– The spruce stand, sturdy and natural
– The Azteka metal stand, practical and adaptable to all models
To easily hang your hammock between two trees, on a terrace, or indoors, we offer a wide range of accessories: strong ropes, carabiners, hooks, and other fasteners. All our equipment is selected to guarantee safety and ease of use, even for beginners.
